Dear Grin

Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.

After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.

The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.

As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.

OTRS: engedéllyel kapcsolatos kérdés

A levélben nem jól szerepeltek a filenevek illetve a felküldésnél nem szerepelt a forrás, ezt én beírtam, elvileg minden képet azt hiszem sikerült megtalálnom, de egy valódi pontos lista nem ártana. --grin ✎ 14:33, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Erre a 2 fájlra kellett engedélynek érkeznie:
1. fájl: File:Nat Nichols 1967.jpg - ez rendben van, rákerült a "PermissionOTRS" sablon.
2. fájl: File:Nat Nichols in 2010.png - erre NN2010c.png néven hivatkozik az engedélyben a szerző, és az email mellékleteként is ez a neve a képnek. A Commonsra feltöltéskor kereshetőségi szempontok miatt adtam neki beszédesebb nevet, de maga a fájl 1:1 ugyanaz. Erre a fájlra viszont csak az "OTRS received" sablont tetted ki. A megbeszélés alapján a commonson magyar közterületneveket használunk ennek kapcsán megkérhetlek rá, hogy a category:Váci Street kategóriából áttedd az ott lévő fájlokat a category:Váci utca kategóriába? @Globetrotter19: Magát a kategóriát átmozgattam, hogy legalább a jövőbeli bejegyzések ne oda kerüljenek, de az egyedi átmozgatáshoz egy kicsit betegeskedő bot kell (SteinsplitterBot), remélhetőleg már van olyan állapotban hogy nekiállhasson a mozgatásoknak. --grin ✎ 16:48, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Next time please check more carefully the permissions field of the data sheet: the image was received from J.E. office and they gave permission for the specific license the image was published. The "license review" template was incorrect, it's not your fault, but please take into consideration that you are asking for details on a 7 years old upload, and chances are that apart from the pretty detailed data sheet there is no other data available, and you ought to assume that the source was fitting at the time of the upload and you should not ignore it, and propose deletion. (It's sheer luck that I have found their email, but others may not be that lucky.) Thanks! grin ✎ 16:21, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

Category:Gay scientists

Szia! Tudnál segíteni? Létrehoztam a Category:Kálmán Bor kategóriát, amelybe Sir Morosus erőlteti a Category:Gay scientists kategóriát. Egyrészt úgy gondolom, hogy egy ilyen kategória csak akkor kerülhet valahova, ha azt a szócikk, vagy Wd-lap, vagy bármi ilyesmi indokol, másrészről pedig ez egy olyan kényes információ, ami csak forrás mellékelése mellett kerülhet be valahova. Akár élő, akár elhunyt az illető. Az "Az egyéni szoc. problémád, hogy nem ismerted. Még sose kértek forrást egy kategóriához a Commonson." indoklást nem tartom elégségesnek a kategória szerepeltetésére. Már csak azért sem, mert így megbízható forrás nélkül terjedhet el az információ, amit előfordulhat, hogy valahol valamikor majd nehezményezni fognak, és forrás nélkül nem védekezhetünk azzal, hogy nem mi terjesztettük el. Háromszor kérdeztem rá a forrásra. Sajnos Sir Morosussal nem lehet kommunikálni, mert az ő kommunikációja a személyeskédben és a személyes támadásban kimerül. Köszi előre is a segítséget! Egyrészt ilyenkor kérlek, hogy írj az illető vitalapjára, mert nem praktikus a summaryben kommunikálni. Másrészt a WMF policy csak élő személyekre vonatkozik, így ezt helyi szinten szabályozza a Commons - vagy nem: ezt most fejből nem tudom. Vélhetően az ilyen hamis állítás kegyeletsértő, és ezen az alapon is visszavonható, de amennyire látom erre konkrét policy nincsen (vagy én nem találtam hirtelenjében).

Írtam neki. Ha ennk ellenére forrás nélkül visszatenné, kérlek szólj, és nyomatékosabban fogalmazok. grin ✎ 21:00, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Köszönöm, hogy írtál neki. Én azért nem írtam neki külön a vitalapjára, mert amikor mentek neki üzenetek különböző képeivel kapcsolatban, akkor ilyen megnyilvánulást kaptam tőle. Nem láttam túlzottan értelmét annak, hogy én írjak még neki azon kívül, hogy forrást kérek a szerkesztési összefoglalóban.

Egyébként az is szempont volt, hogy a huwikin is csak olyan kategóriák kerülnek a szócikkbe (vagy olyan kategóriákba kerül a szócikk), amit a szócikk szövege indokolttá tesz, és normálisan olyan szöveg kerül a szócikkbe, amit forrás alátámaszt, így logikusan következik az, hogy a Commonsban is úgy kell (kellene?) kategorizálni, ami forrásból elérhető információkon alapszik, hogy ne fals információk kerüljenek be a WP bugyraiba. Unidentified female chess players from the 60s

Dear Grin, The photo of this female chess player (at Hoogovens Chess Tournament 1964, see picture at the right) carries incorrect metadata. The source, Dutch National Archives, tells us this is "de twee zusjes Jovanovic" (the two Jovanovic sisters), but that is clearly wrong. Identifying this woman is not impossible: there were only 12 female chess players at this tournament, and I could rule several out. I suggested the two most likely candidates as Romanian chess player Alexandra Ekatarina Nicolau (=Katy van der Meije) or Hungarian Eva Karakas. Do you have any Hungarian chess connections who could shed light on this matter? Vysotsky (talk) 16:24, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion. I started working on it, when I realised most photos with wrong descriptions were from the 1964 tournament, when Mrs. Ivanka was not competing (being only 14 years old). The 1971 tournament (that Mrs. Ivanka won) had only one female chess player portrayed. Vysotsky (talk) 22:57, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

She replied and said that all the photos mentioned originally attributed as Jovanović(-Blagorjević) are indeed depicting her (Jovanović), probably from different tournaments.

Mrs. Ivanka is right that all images in this category are portraits of Katarina Blagojević-Jovanović. I don't doubt that, and identified most of them myself. But many photos originally said to depict the Jovanić sisters are NOT photos of one of the two sisters, see this one, this one and this one, so I will rename them. As to the 1971 photo (on the right) I guess I have no other option than to admit it might be Katarina Jovanović. I looked at photos of all 12 female players at Hoogovens 1971, and my last two options were a young Milunka Lazarević (no) or German chess player Irina Cohn (no photo found). Since this one was the original image where Ms. Ivánka told me that it shows Jovanović instead of her I am pretty confident that it's her. I asked her about the news article (photo with the same clothes and necklace), I guess the original 1971 photo was mixed up as well.
