Requesting help in concluding a proposed deletion[edit]

Hello De728631, can you please conclude a proposed deletion as I was told by another admin that only admins who are not involved in a discussion can conclude it. My files are completely deserving to be on commons yet it was proposed for deletion just because I am new. Please consider helping. Thank you File:Anurag Jha at Red Carpet of DRE7MS film screening 2021.jpg BollyNewslocal (talk) 13:07, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@BollyNewslocal: Hello. Please wait until the deletion discussion has run for at least seven days. Closing it now would be too early according to our rules. De728631 (talk) 15:01, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello De728631, I believe it has been more than 7 days now, just wanted to request you again to consider closing it. Thank you :). BollyNewslocal (talk) 08:10, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done and kept. De728631 (talk) 19:34, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
THANK YOU VERY MUCH :) BollyNewslocal (talk) 04:43, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Special:Diff/613222445[edit]

It seems to me that you closed the undeletion request early because I didn't hear a response from Yann, who believes in his opinion that I should prove someone else's statements without the possibility of appeal. It's not fair play. I called the another opponent to check the true license for my file ("my" isn't because I've rights to it, as you wrote in the reason for closing, even the opposite) through Discogs feedback. Agree, there is no easier way than this. Although if I agree with anything, it is with the thesis about the overestimated requirements for the PD on Commons, while on Disсogs it is enough to be the rights holder so that someone from a third-party site can borrow and freely upload his/her/their cover or some other image.

Pings to @Yann: , @Elcobbola:

@RenesSans: I agree with De728631's closure. Yann (talk) 18:25, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good closure. RenesSans, consider reviewing COM:EVID, and w:WP:IDHT. Эlcobbola talk 18:32, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is a general rule at Commons that the uploader has to provide evidence for the free licence of the content they provide here. And as I wrote in the closing rationale, there is no such thing as an automatic PD grant by posting something at Discogs. And you are still mistaken if you believe that Discogs content is freely available to anyone. The terms and conditions make that very clear since downloading content is prohibited. You quoted the paragraph regarding the user content but that refers only to the content which may be uploaded to Discogs. It does not say that all content there comes with a free licence, because it may include "content for which You are the rights holder". In fact that is the vast majority of the content since sound samples and album covers are always non-free unless an explicit licence has been granted. De728631 (talk) 18:33, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Great, you all refuse to know the truth by inducing me to upload the album cover from another source that will definitely not be free. I will say that from the publisher's store, but this, as you understand, is commercial. RenesSans (talk) 18:38, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Again, no. The publisher's store does not allow you to republish anything. Even if you bought the album there it would only be for your personal use and you would not be in a position to relicense the cover. That is how copyright works. De728631 (talk) 18:43, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well then, we'll bypass this copyright work by establishing FU, since I don't trust other sources that use an unknown license or (at least) distribute under fair use, although in the second case it is hard to prove; often, the release pages do not indicate the image license at all. Maybe you can restore and transfer to Wikipedia for use in the article, so that I do not take from the past source again? RenesSans (talk) 20:29, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@RenesSans: Alright, fair use is a possible solution. I have temporarily undeleted the file so you can transfer it to the Russian Wikipedia since I wouldn't know how to operate templates and links etc. in Russian. Please let me know when you are finished. De728631 (talk) 22:18, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@De728631: Done. When transferring the file, I ran into the fact that I did not find the export tool, and the special page Import is accessed only to privileged persons with administrator, importer and transwiki importer rights. Therefore, I came up with a solution to use the help of Russian admin. Thank you for giving me time. RenesSans (talk) 14:22, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How we will see unregistered users[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
